Tesla Model S made it coast to coast in snowy US for free in 76 hours

In this blog: In 2014 it's already possible to drive an EV cross country in the winter. And at least with Tesla, it comes at no cost, but even if it was paid, it would still be three times chearer than driving a gas car. We're talking about the 76 hour trip made by Tesla team driving two Model S EVs from LA to New York... (more…)

In 2013 EV fast charging stations doubled in Europe

In this blog: Turns out just one fast charging station is enough to increase EV traffic a lot. The news that Nissan now has 1,000 fast charging stations (CHAdeMO) installed around Europe (#1000 is somewhere in Surray, Englang), is great for electric mobility. To me even greater news would be to have even one of the next 1,000 stations installed in Bulgaria... (more…)

“Well, they mostly charge at home so public EV charging doesn’t matter that much!”

In this blog: If you own a garage, you'll most likely agree to that, but otherwise it's different. Most ot the early EV adopters can charge their cars at home. It's a fact. With that in mind, after couple of years of MiniE and ActiveE tests it does not sound weird to me to hear someone at BMW saying: "Public infrastructure is not really very important because most people are charging their cars at home"... This Model S tuning will be a crazy thing

In this blog: American performance custom pros at Saleen plan to make their own Model S masterpiece. Meanwhile some guys over at Tesla Motors are about to complete their first Model S USA cross tour from the South to the East Coast. In winter conditions. They've almost reached the final destination and so far the only failure enroute is in the gasoline service minivan. It happens with cars and is not a topic to discuss here, but that Steve Saleen wants to make the most powerful Model...

Skinny tires OK, but isn’t 155 on 19″ a bit exotic?

In this blog: Do electric vehicles need such narrow tires and do they look good? Skinnies fit Renault Twizy, though it looks cooler in ELIA mods. You know Germans, they not only put wider tires, but also wider custom fenders. Some other Germans did the opposite, however, despite they are far from popular in doing this – BMW i3's tires are super skinny for its width. Not that we haven't seen skinny tires, but 155/70 on 19"?!?... (more…)

Charging your EV at friends’ place – that’s fun

In this blog: I do foretaste many new social contacts "produced" by EVs. The "What's your next car – hydrogen or pure electric?" blog also produced something and it was lots of comments (OK, in the Bulgarian version ^_^). I've learned a lot about the Bulgarian energy mix from this discussion, but another lovely idea popped up. I haven't really thought very much about this so far – the opportunityt to charge your electric vehicle at friends' place...
